When does the 27 plate come out?

The 27 plate is issued from 1 March 2027. New cars first registered from then until 31 August 2027 get a 27 plate, then 77 plates start on 1 September 2027.
How the 27 identifier works
March plates use the last two digits of the year, so 2027 plates are 27.
Until then, new cars get a 76 plate (issued 1 September 2026 to 28 February 2027).
Dealers often take orders for new-plate cars weeks before the change, but the car can’t be registered on the new identifier until the first day of the month.
